Verify your phone number
Confirm the number you already have, and what to do when the code does not arrive.
Why you would
Confirming your own mobile number tells us where to reach you, and it is required before Orsola will give you a phone number of its own — see get your own Orsola phone number.
It is your existing number you are confirming here, not a new one.
Confirm it
- Open your Profile and enter your phone number, with the country code.
- Ask for a code. A six-digit code arrives by text.
- Type it in before it expires.
The limits, so nothing surprises you:
| Limit | Value |
|---|---|
| Code length | 6 digits |
| How long it lasts | 10 minutes |
| Attempts per code | 3 |
| Codes per day | 5 |
| Wait between requests | 15 minutes |
The fifteen-minute wait is the one that catches people. Asking again immediately does not work, so it is worth giving the first code a couple of minutes before deciding it is lost.
If the code does not arrive
- Check the number, including the country code. A missing or wrong country code sends the text somewhere else entirely, and everything on screen looks normal.
- Give it two or three minutes. Text delivery is not instant, and requesting again resets your wait rather than speeding it up.
- Check you have signal. Texts do not arrive over wi-fi alone on most networks.
- Check your phone is not filtering it. Messages from unknown senders are sometimes hidden in a separate list.
- Try once more after fifteen minutes. You get five codes a day; after that you wait until tomorrow.
If the code arrives but is refused, check you are typing the newest one — an older code from an earlier request will not work, and each code only gives you three attempts.
Where to go next
If several codes never arrive and the number is definitely right, get in touch with the number in full including country code, and roughly when you tried.
