Change or give up your number
Release a number you no longer want, and what happens to your calls, texts, and billing.
Before you give it up
Four things worth knowing first, because none of them is reversible:
- Calls and texts stop immediately, not at the end of the month.
- You cannot take that same number straight back. It stays with the carrier until they confirm the release, which is not instant, so changing your mind soon after means a different number.
- The credits for the month already under way are not returned. The charge stops from the next cycle, so there is no saving in going early.
- Anyone who has the number loses the ability to reach you on it, with no forwarding and no message explaining why.
If you have given the number to clients, tell them before you release it rather than after.
Release your number
- Open the Phone agent in the sidebar.
- Choose to release the number.
- Read the confirmation — it restates the points above — and choose Release number. Keep number backs out.
The monthly charge stops from the next cycle.
What is kept
Releasing the number does not reset your setup. Your knowledge base, your assistant's persona, and its calendar access are all kept, so if you take a new number later you carry on from where you left off rather than configuring it again.
Past calls, their recordings and summaries, and your text history all stay in your account too. Giving up a number stops future calls; it does not erase past ones.
Get a different one
Provision a new number the same way as the first — see get your own Orsola phone number. You are shown its monthly cost before confirming, and it starts working within a few minutes.
If you are changing region, check what is available before releasing the old one. Releasing first does not reserve anything.
If you are leaving the plan entirely
A phone number needs the Max plan. Moving down without releasing the number leaves you paying for something you cannot use, so release it first, then change plan — change, pause, or cancel your plan.
Where to go next
Calls, texts, and alerts if you are keeping the number after all.
